Chemical Peels

What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels help to smooth skin texture, reduce age spots and mild scars, and fade freckles and dark patches—also known as melasma. To accomplish this, the chosen peel solution induces a controlled injury to the skin by removing its outermost layer. We offer a variety of peels ranging from very mild to aggressive treatments.

What are the different types of chemical peels?

Superficial peels, which use mild acids like alpha-hydroxy acid, gently exfoliate and only penetrate the outermost layer of skin.

Medium peels use trichloroacetic or glycolic acid to reach into the middle layer of the skin.

Deep peels fully penetrate the middle layer of the skin to remove damaged skin cells; these peels often use phenol or trichloroacetic acid.

What is the downtime?

Recovery time varies depending on which chemical peel you receive. Some peels have no downtime, while others may have up to 7 days of downtime. During this time, you may experience flakiness and redness.

How long do results last?

The results of chemical peels will always depend on your skin, the conditions you’re treating with peels, and the depth and strength of the peel.

Am I a good candidate?

Light peels are beneficial for those who want to freshen up the skin, whereas heavier peels are better suited for individuals with texture or pigmentation concerns. If you would like to be assessed prior to treatment, call us to schedule your free consultation with one of our aestheticians.
