Laser Hair Removal Patient Care Instructions

Pre-Treatment Instructions
- Avoid sun exposure and spray tans for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment. Any change in skin pigment may results it deferring treatment until it is safe to treat.
- Avoid applying lotions, creams, deodorants to the areas we are treating the day of treatment.
- Shave the area(s) we are treatment no more than 2 days prior to treatment.
- Avoid tweezing, waxing throughout the entire duration of your treatment.
Post Care Instructions
- Apply moisturizer twice a day while redness is present.
- Apply makeup gently and remove with a soft cloth and soapy water.
- Discomfort may be relieved by ice packs and acetaminophen.
Things to Avoid
- Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks after treatment. A total sunblock, not a sunscreen,should be applied if it is impossible to comply. If further treatment is needed a commitment to stay out of the sun is necessary. Sun exposure may cause certain complications (possibility of blistering and/or hyperpigmentation).
- No rubbing and/or scratching the treated area.
- No swimming or using hot tubs/saunas while redness is present or for at least 24-48 hours.
- Avoid exfoliating the area for 24-48 hours after treatment.
Post treatment symptoms
- If crusting occurs, do not shave or pick the area. Apply polysporin or aquaphor to the area 2 times per day. Keep the area hydrated and let it fall off on its own.
Your next appointment
- For laser hair removal, a series of 8-12 treatments is recommended for best results. Treatments can be scheduled 4-5 weeks apart depending on the area.
When you should call us
- If there is any indication of blistering or infection (redness, tenderness or discharge) or with any questions or concerns.
