"What Is Your Best Hemline?"
Wearing your best hemline centers around your size and height, and the cut and silhouette of the dress or skirt. This is a horizontal line that goes across your body and can make a huge difference in your visual body proportions!
Thankfully hosiery and tights are once again on trend, allowing those of us with less than perfect gams to wear the lengths and styles that look the best and suit our personalities.
If you are tall or have proportionally longer legs, knee length is perfect for you. Mid-calf is also a great length if your calves are thin.
If you are short or have proportionally shorter legs, shorter lengths will look more flattering, about 3-4" above the knee. (I am short and smaller in stature, so this is my best length.)
If your legs are thicker a knee length will be the most complimentary, since it will hit at the narrowest part of the leg.
You can make the mid-calf length work by wearing high enough boots in the same color as your dress so it looks like one continuous line.
If your dress is stretchy or tight, go for a longer length. This cut will typically ride up a bit if shorter, plus it just looks a little more revealing in general.
Flared styles or pleats should be at the knee or slightly longer. This cut is more forgiving on the less than perfect knees by creating shadows and visually softening the skin.
Do you know your perfect length?
