Everything you wear and carry creates a horizontal line.
Short hair makes you appear taller, but that doesn't mean women with long hair can't achieve the same goal. Lighter colors on certain sections of the hair gives the illusion of height (ask your stylist). Longer hair works with soft, bouncy styles rather than poker-straight locks.
Create a column of color by wearing the same color top and bottom. Column dressing emphasizes vertical lines. (Wearing similar shades work just as well to create the same low contrast.) You can add a third layer with a jacket or cardigan in a contrasting color to emphasize the column.
Don a top or dress with a deep v-neck to draw attention upward to your face.
Push your sleeves up-the shorter your legs, the more those sleeves should go up. Showing some forearm draws the eye upward.
Watch jewelry length. Long lengths are cool and trendy, but if you are short or short
through the torso make sure you mix in a shorter length to keep the interest around your face.
Wear your top or jacket either above the widest part of the hips or just below. Too far past and your legs will look like stumps.
Hold your handbag higher. A low-riding bag on your hip makes your hips look wider!!
Choose maxi skirts and dresses that skim the length of your body to create a vertical line (forego anything with too many layers.) Keep your top fitted-belted or tucked in for example-so you don't drown in fabric. Make sure the skirt’s hemline is as long as you can go without tripping and add a pair of wedges or heels.
Rock some vertical stripes, at least on your lower half.
Avoid cropped pants. I'll admit I have a few of these but have to wear heels to pull it off. This trend isn't for short girls since it cuts us off at the ankles. Even worse are the flared crops.
Try fit and flare pants. Slim fit through the leg with a flare at the bottom, these are the short girls dream.
Fake it with heels!
