Botox CosmeticWhat is Botox Cosmetic?Botox Cosmetic is derived from a purified protein .It is the first intramuscular treatment to reduce dynamic wrinkles caused by hyperactive muscles. How does Botox work?Botox blocks the impulse from the nerve to the muscle. The injection of very small amounts of Botox can safely relax the muscle allowing the frown line to disappear over time. What areas can be treated?The most common site for Botox injections is the upper face including frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead wrinkles and crows feet around the eyes.
What happens during the treatment?The treatment is very simple and takes only minutes.The skin is cleansed and a small amount of Botox is injected using a very small needle .

What are the side effects?The most common side effects are temporary redness or bruising .Other side effects include temporary numbness of the forehead, transient headache and flu like symptoms lasting a couple days. Rarely, Botox may migrate to the upper eyelid causing a slight drooping of the eyelid which will correct itself over a short period of time. There have been no reports of allergic reaction. Botox may not be used in pregnant or lactating women.
How long does Botox last?Botox will take between 3 to 10 days to take effect and will last approximately three to four months. After multiple treatments, the amount of Botox required will decrease and the time between treatments will increase.
